Handmade cotton rag paper sketchbook with collage papers

This is a handmade sketchbook, with a simple stitched binding. You get 10 pages (20 sides) of lovely soft 100% acid free cotton rag paper with torn/deckle edging. The paper is handmade and therefore does have some irregularities in its surface - some pages may have creases or marks made during the manufacturing process. The paper also has quite a distinctive smell, but this wears off completely after exposure to the air and as you continue working on it. The pages are 200gsm and will take a variety of media, though you do need a reasonably gentle touch with it - it won't withstand any kind of scrubbing action. I have used ink and watercolour on this kind of paper as well as pen & ink and various drawing media. You can also collage onto it. The size of each page (i.e. each side) is approximately 5.5" x 9" (14cm x 22.5cm).
The white wraparound cover is heavyweight (320gsm) cotton khadi paper, which will also take wet and dry media as well as collage. The cover is blank for you to decorate yourself in whatever way you choose. The cover measures about 9.25" x16.5" (23.5cm x 42cm) when unfolded; the book when closed measures about 6.5" x 9.25" ( 16.5cm x 23.5cm).
Also included is a pack of collage papers as shown (the ruler in the photo is for scale) - mostly hand painted, with some antique papers (dating from the 1880s) and some pages from a vintage poetry anthology from which you can cut words.
Each book comes with a hand-dyed strip from a vintage silk sari, and is enough to wrap around the book a couple of times to keep it closed. Please note there will be a seam or two in the silk strip, and the long edges will continue to fray. I've added a couple of vintage buttons so that you can stitch the ribbon to the book cover when you've decorated it to your taste. The buttons are optional, of course - there are lots of other ways to attach the ribbon, or you can just tie it around the book.
